Cloris, Clairee and Olympia

So....talk about laughing at yourself.

It began with my mother who informed me today Cloris Leachman passed away, Later, after I had dinner I thought I would go online and post a nice little tribute about Cloris, something like RIP Cloris Leachman, she was 94., blah, blah, blah, but that wasn't the funny part, in fact, that part is somewhat sad, I mean, she did live a long life.

Anyway, I followed my niceties with mentioning something about the actresses role in movies, including a shout out to her role as Clarice in Steal Magnolias. But when I typed the name Clarice, something didn't sound right, I mean, I know Jody Fosters name was Clarice in Silence of the Lambs, but was Cloris Leachman's name Clarice in Steal Magnolia's? Stay tuned, there's more.

I did a google search and asked, What is the character's name Cloris Leachman played in Steal Magnolia's. The top search result is in this post. I didn't open the webpage, I only looked at what came up. I learned Cloris' character name was Clairee, and not Clarice, who knew, right? I sure as heck did not. Of course, I wasn't too far off with Clarice, but the truth of the matter is this, when I wrote the name Clairee in the post something didn't sit right, call it a gut feeling, call it what you want. I knew I had searched and looked only at the top search result, no more.

The truth of the matter is this: Cloris Leachman was considered for the role of Clairee, but the role went to Olympia Dukakis, who is still alive.

So, may you rest in peace Cloris Leachman, that is, IF you made the 'Choice' of Salvation, and may you continue living a good life Olympia aka Clairee.
